Dental Bridges in Macquarie Fields

Missing a tooth can affect how you chew and how you feel about your smile. If you’re considering replacing it, a dental bridge may be one option.

At Dental Art Clinic, we’ll assess the gap, your surrounding teeth and your bite before recommending treatment. You’ll have the chance to ask questions, compare your options and understand the cost before deciding what to do next.

What Is a Dental Bridge?

A dental bridge replaces one or more missing teeth with a custom-made restoration. A replacement tooth fills the gap and is supported by neighbouring teeth or, with some bridge designs, dental implants.

A bridge stays in place rather than being removed like a denture. The right design depends on where the gap is, the condition of the surrounding teeth and gums, and how your teeth meet when you bite.

Benefits of a Dental Bridge

Fixed Tooth Replacement

A bridge stays in place for meals and everyday activities. You don’t take it out overnight, though you do need to clean around and beneath it each day.

Support for Chewing

Replacing a missing tooth may make it easier to use that side of your mouth when eating. What a bridge can achieve will depend on your bite and the teeth supporting it.

Appearance Planned Around Your Teeth

The replacement tooth can be made with the shape and shade of nearby teeth in mind. We’ll talk about the look you prefer and check the bridge’s fit and appearance during treatment.

An Option Without Implant Surgery

A bridge supported by natural teeth does not require an implant to be placed in the jaw. Those supporting teeth generally need to be prepared, so we’ll explain what that involves when comparing your options.

Our Dental Bridge Process

Your bridge is made in a dental laboratory to fit your mouth, so it comes together across more than one visit.
Step 1
Assessment and Planning
We’ll examine the gap, the potential supporting teeth, your gums and your bite. X-rays may be recommended. If decay or gum disease needs attention first, we’ll include that in the proposed plan.
Step 2
Preparing the Supporting Teeth
For a traditional bridge, the teeth beside the gap are shaped so the restoration can fit over them. Local anaesthetic is generally used during this stage. We’ll explain the preparation before you agree to treatment because it changes those teeth.
Step 3
Making Your Bridge
Measurements, impressions or scans are used to make a bridge for your mouth. Your dentist will explain the steps and whether a temporary restoration is appropriate while your bridge is being made.
Step 4
Fitting and Follow-Up
When the bridge is ready, we’ll check its fit, appearance and how it meets your other teeth. After fitting, we’ll show you how to clean beneath it and advise when it should be reviewed.

Is a Dental Bridge Right for You?

A bridge may be an option if you have a missing tooth and would prefer a fixed replacement. Whether it suits you depends partly on the teeth that would support it, the health of your gums and the space available.

You might be considering a bridge if:

You don’t need to judge suitability yourself. We’ll examine your mouth and talk through the options that make sense for your teeth. If the supporting teeth are unsuitable, we can discuss an alternative.

Dental Bridges FAQs

How much does a dental bridge cost in Macquarie Fields?
There isn’t one price that applies to every bridge. Your quote will depend on the number of teeth being replaced, the bridge design and material, and whether the surrounding teeth or gums need treatment first. After examining your mouth, we’ll explain the recommended treatment and provide a personalised quote.
It varies from person to person. The condition of the supporting teeth, your bite and how you care for the bridge all matter. A bridge may need repair or replacement over time, and we’ll check it during your regular dental visits.
For a traditional bridge supported by natural teeth, generally yes. The teeth are shaped to hold the crowns that support the replacement tooth. We’ll explain this step and any suitable alternatives before you decide.
You’ll need to clean beneath the replacement tooth as well as brush the bridge and surrounding teeth. We can show you how to use a floss threader, suitable floss or an interdental brush for your particular bridge.
They work differently. A traditional bridge uses neighbouring teeth for support, while an implant involves placing a support in the jaw through surgery. Neither is automatically the better choice. We’ll assess your mouth and explain which options may suit you.
Local anaesthetic is generally used when supporting teeth need preparation. You may have some sensitivity or tenderness afterwards. If you feel anxious about dental treatment, let us know so we can talk through what to expect and how to make your visits more comfortable.
